This is a memory painting I started this week – I am working on the near trees, grasses, fencing and beginning to add some sky – I am moving right to left –

The scene depicts my sister fishing in the spring-fed pond we had on our property in rural Appalachia where we grew up – We spent many a day catching pan fish from this pond … great memories –

Painting: Oil on canvas glued to hardboard, 8 1/2 x 16; Palette: Yellow Ochre, Indian Red, Burnt Sienna, Italian Green Umber, Raw Umber, Ultramarine Blue and Cremnitz –

Comments and suggestions always welcome –

Thank you for viewing – Hud

P.S. – Added the "desaturation" image I use to view my progress … don't know how it wound up at the top –

Terrific So far! I'd love to be there with a cane pole.

You bet … that is exactly what we had to fish with – We cut our own from the cane patch along the river bottom – I do not think those stands of cane can be found anymore … progress I think they call it –

I love your memory paintings. They tend to have the warm glow that we all see in our imaginations when we remember those nostalgic , happy memories. Looking so wonderful already. I actually like seeing your black and white image – it looks like your values are really good!

My continuing efforts on this painting –

Have considerable work left to do on the trees and sky … plus a little on the fence yet – Pretty much satisfied with the grasses … may have to touch up some before I call it done –

Have decided to include this "desaturation" image since the one above was added –

Comments and suggestions always weclome –

You've depicted a walk down memory lane beautifully – Don't see much more that you can do to improve upon this – beautiful

This is so lovely! You have a great sense of depth. I love that red shed in the distance. One small critique – and feel free to disregard this – the wooden fence appears to be two different sizes on the left and right sides of the road. Just a small thing. Otherwise, it's absolutely beautiful!
